Laura Bennett

I was drawn towards Bennet's cartoon style and her comical humor within her work.
style is kept quite simple, no colour used, leaving it up to the different tones to allow her work to stand out.

Laura Bennett

Out of all the world in the main Loughbough Univeristy show
I liked Larua Bennet's the most

Her style is very comical, which I don't always like, however I like the situations she puts her characters in, and her work is very detailed and by not using colour I think her work appears more bolder by the blackess within the detail.

Fine Art
Painting Reflection

This piece reminded me of Francis Reynold's work, alot of the tones and colours are similer,
what attracted me towards this piece however was the relections by the water, I thought it was really realistic, and the composition is slightly dramatic by how we view the woman, we don't see her face however it suggests she's drowning, yet the piece seems very calm, by the colours used.

Francis Reynolds

Loughborough University
School of Art

They have single-site campus out of the city centre, I didn't really like the location of this univeristy and found it abit small, although I really liked the animation department, I preferred Manchester School of Art

I found alot of work that I did like here such as Francis Reynolds (image below) I thought the composition work well, with the two people side by side of the central person, and found it interesting with bits left out of the imagr, as if to suggests decay, or the people fading away.

The texture and tones used are strong and the light coming through highlights the piece, the main colour in the background is also complementarity to the central piece. as it's subtle.

Within this piece I like how the sketchy style remains in a detailed portrait observation
and the small addition of the small blue pattern creates an interesting contrast.

Jack Therelfall
Southampton Solent University
BA (HONS) Special Effective)

I found this piece very interesting, as film interests me, I liked how Therelfall set the installation up with the short clip playing on the small tv, and the cluttered room, I didn't quite understand the piece the overall I did like it, as there are a lot of different aspects to it such as the pictures on the wall and notes, combined with the short clip gives us a insight in the the persons life and suggests more.

MANCHESTER SCHOOL OF ART
15/06/12

I visited Manchester University is divided into different specialist areas; I went to visit the Manchester Metropolitan University of Art to look at the annual students art exhibition from different area’s throughout art.
Overall I really liked the general feel of the univeristy, I thought alot of the work was very diveirse and interesting, found alot of students work that I likd such as

Lindsey Green
BA Hons illustraton
Inspired by Philip Pullman's northern lights novel
Sketched then digitally developed

Her inspiratoin came from Philp Pullman's Northen Lights
Her work almost has a glow to it, the warm colours she uses blend well and
further delveloping her origonal sketches within Photoshop
her work as a realistic astestic, yet still remaining a comical style aswell.
